Introduction to Vocaloids
Would you believe me if I said that computers can sing? Well they can...sort of.
The Vocaloid program is a singing synthesizer which takes samples of people's voices and 'creates' a character of them which has their edited voice in syllables such as 'ai', 'je' etc. This is not done for just anyone, it utilizes the voices of professionals and in maybe one or two cases the voices of children. eg the English vocaloid Oliver who is voiced by a teenage boy or the Japanese vocaloid Kaii Yuki who is voiced by an elementary school student. The free program UTAU allows you to edit your own voice in a similar way to vocaloids. If you want to go into the details of the technology as one of the many songs says: Go google it!

Miku Hatsune
This is Miku Hatsune, possibly the most famous vocaloid at the moment. Also, yes her hair is teal. According to the official website she is 16 years old and has been for the last 5 years. She is a Japanese vocaloid and, admittedly, has a very high pitched voice. Her best vocal range is A3-E5 if that means anything to you. I find that she is the face of vocaloid even though she was not the first vocaloid and ignorant fans even say that she was! She is actually the third Japanese vocaloid produced by Crypton Future Media and the seventh vocaloid overall. A famous song of her is 'World is mine'. Her name means: The first sound from the future. She is voiced by Saki Fujita. Her character item is a leek.
Luka Megurine
This is Luka Megurine a more mature female vocaloid by Crypton Future Media and is the third Japanese Vocaloid2 . The little 2 there is important since she is not the third vocaloid from CFM. Her name somehow means 'songs to all around the world as scent spreads'. She is the first Bilingual vocaloid and can sing both Japanese and English though she unfortunately has an accent. She is harder to use than Miku who is relatively easy to use. The 'Go google it' is a song sung by her. She is voiced by Yu Asakawa. Her character item is tuna.
Len Kagamine
This is Len Kagamine, the male of the Rin/Len pair. Yes, that is a boy!!!!Be warned, if you go onto one of his videos and say you don't like it. *shudders* I fear for you life. (It is said that Len fans are the most terrifying) His name is not as simple as the others, his last name 'Kagamine' means Mirror sound and Len stands for Left. (on headphones you have L and R on them for Left and Right) Though he is a boy character he is voiced by a girl called Asami Shimoda. He is quite hard to use and can come out sounding very choppy and he has a slight lisp. He is also very high sounding for a boy. (well he IS voiced by a chick!) You can't is well but he has a bass-clef on his shirt. A famous song of his is 'Servant of Evil'.
Now what hand is the bass-clef played with? His character item is a banana. He and Rin share the joint character item of a Road roller.

Rin Kagamine
This is Rin Kagamine, the female of the Rin/Len pair. Her name is for Right. she has a treble-clef on her shirt.
What hand is a treble-clef played with?
Her voice is obviously more feminine and higher pitched than Len's even though they are voiced by the same girl. Len's vocie is her chest voice and Rin is her head voice. She is easier to use than Len and much clearer. She is also difficult to use. A famous song of hers is 'Daughter of Evil'. As a pair the Kagamine twins are famous for their tragic songs. Her character item is an orange as well as the shared road roller.

Prima
This is the box art of the opera vocaloid Prima. Yes, an opera vocaloid. Her voice actor is unknown and no, it isn't the chick in the picture. She is not a Japanese vocaloid but an English one. She is known for being very realistic. She does not have an official character item or character. Her character item is sometimes thought to be wine.
